Hilton Head Public Golf Courses
Head Arthur Hills - Public Golf Course – Palmetto Hall Plantation
The Arthur Hills Course is a favorite. When it opened in 1991, Golf Magazine rated it one of America’s “Top 10 New Courses”, referring to it as “a classic”. The fairways wind around sparkling lakes and are heavily wooded by towering pines and moss draped oaks. The greens are well maintained and protected, edged with bunkers and strategically placed water hazards. The signature hole, the par-4 18th, offers a daunting finish to a spectacular game. Golf Digest rated this course “A Must Play” when visiting Hilton Head Island. For further information and tee times for this Hilton Head golf course, call 843-785-1138 or Toll Free 1-800-827-3006.
Hilton Head Arthur Hill’s - Public Golf Course – Palmetto Dunes Plantation
The Arthur Hills Golf Course originally opened in
1986, was extensively renovated in 1995. Said to have one of the most
distinctive layouts in the Low-country, this “must play” course has a tournament putting surface year round
and an extremely undulating line with significant elevation changes. Lined by
dunes that continue into the greens, a player quickly notices the absence of
rough and fairway bunkers. Gusty ocean breezes and numerous lagoons combine to
make this course a challenge. The greens are generous but getting on is a
challenge due to a multitude of bunkers. For further information and tee times
for this Hilton Head golf course, call 843-785-1138 or Toll Free

Hilton Head Barony - Public Golf Course – Port Royal Plantation
The Barony Course, designed by George Cobb, opened
in the spring of 1969. From the tee, many of the holes on Barony appear to be
relatively open, but as you approach the green, the real challenge of the
course becomes clear. The greens are small and protected by deep bunkers and
Bermuda rough, demanding a deft touch with the medium and short irons. Indeed,
this is a course where accuracy, not length, is paramount. For further
information and tee times for this Hilton Head golf course, call 843-689-4653
or Toll Free 1-800-234-6318.
Hilton Head Country Club - Semi- Private Golf Course Hilton Head Plantation
A Rees Jones design that opened in 1986, the Country
Club course is a demanding, rolling layout that rambles through wide-open
expanses, pine, and oak woodlands, freshwater ponds and marshes. There are also
some scenic glimpses of Skull Creek on the back nine. Each hole is distinctive,
as a golfer must negotiate water hazards, contoured fairways, pot bunkers and
sculpted bunkers, and grass hollows. This facility features constant elevation
tees, landing areas and greens. There is a fully stocked pro shop, outstanding
practice facilities, and snack bar facilities. For further information and tee
times for this Hilton Head golf course, call 843-681-4653

the summer months. Guest has free use of the amenities including the practice

in the nation’s “Top
100 Courses You Can Play”.
The course requires finesse and pinpoint shot placement rather than power. The
protected greens are among the smallest of any tournament course in the
country. Those who know say the par-four 18th hole is fearsome. This
facility has become a symbol for excellence in the world of golf, and yearly
makes everyone's list of Top-50 in the USA. For further information and tee

Hilton Head Planter’s Row - Public Golf Course – Port Royal Plantation
Planters Row Golf Course designed by Willard Byrd and George Cobb was built in
1984. The course offers rolling tree lined fairways in a park like setting.
Water comes into play on several holes at Planter's Row, and its large and
undulating greens require a skilled touch with your putter. Keeping the ball in
play is essential to good scoring on this track. An excellent example of this
is the 480-yard, par-5 18th hole. The second shot must find a narrow landing
area flanked by woods to the left and water to the right setting up a short pitch
to an elevated well-bunkered green. For further information and tee times for
this Hilton Head golf course, call 843-689-4653 or Toll Free 1-800-234-6318.

oceanfront view, one of only two oceanfront holes on the entire island. For

conventional golf course architecture, thanks to a boldly original concept from
the designer. Named the 1992 Golf Architect of the Year by Golf World, Cupp
plotted the course's original design on computer. The course, praised for the
impeccable year round conditioning, has been rated as one of the toughest
courses in the area from the back tees; the course is eminently playable from the
forward tees. The beautiful clubhouse is 14, 0000 square feet and provides
lockers, pro shop, and dining facilities available to all players. There is a
resident head pro for instructions. A truly unique experience, the Cupp course
is great fun to play for all skill levels. Golf Digest Rated This Course “A Must Play” When Visiting Hilton Head Island. For

Hilton Head Robber's Row - Public Golf Course - Port Royal Plantation
on historic Civil War grounds, Robber’s Row was the plantation’s first course, opening in 1996. Pete
Dye redesigned the course in 1993. The varied course requires finesse and every
club in a playerÂ’s
bag. The fairways are lined with magnolia and oak trees as well as numerous
historical markers describing events pertinent to the area. The greens are
generous but getting on is a challenge due to a multitude of bunkers. Those
looking for a real challenge can move to the back tees and find a very fair,
but stern test of golf. Robber’s
Row has emerged as one of the most exciting courses on Hilton Head Island. For

Hilton Head Sea Marsh - Public Golf Course – Sea Pines Plantation
The Sea Marsh Course originally designed by George
Cobb and revitalized by Clyde Johnston in 1990, winds
through oaks and pines, and has broad fairways lined by vast tidal marshes and
picturesque lagoons. An
assortment of well-bunkered greens requires accurate shot placement to score
well and are generally sloped from back to front. This is not a very long
course from the back tees, but considered by locals as a good test of golf. A visit to Hilton Head Island requires a round on
the Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, which feature the signature
163-yard 13th hole, a picturesque par 3. A
consistent ocean breeze adds to the trial, making this course an interesting
test of true golf skill. For further information and tee times for this Hilton
